Las Vegas 3 Days in December 2021

Places were starting to open up more in terms of travel in the United States and as Yeison and I had both been fully vaccinated since June 2021, we felt comfortable to take a quick trip to Las Vegas at the beginning of December 2021.

We spent 3 full days in Las Vegas after our trip to Mexico and this was our experience.

Las Vegas 3 Days

We landed in Las Vegas at 1040 PM at night from Mexico. We easily grabbed an Uber from the airport to our hotel, the Luxor which was actually very busy due to some sort of Cowboy event going on. The Luxor has implemented a no-contact check in that requires guests to download the app but once you download and check in, then you use your phone as your room key.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get it to work on my phone so we checked in normally to our room. We had never stayed at the Luxor before and I was pleased – our room was spacious, comfortable and most importantly, clean.

Day 1

First, we grabbed coffee from the Starbucks downstairs ($5 USD for a black coffee? That hurt) and headed out. Yeison and I are the type of travelers who like to walk to get the feel of a city so we spent the entire day walking the strip from end to end, wandering through all the hotels and casinos. We aren’t big on the stores or shopping but we enjoyed walking through the strip, especially as all the hotels were decorated for Christmas.

Where we ate

Food is one of the main reasons why we love to travel. We love to eat and food in Las Vegas is awesome, especially with so much variety around and so many choices outside the strip.

Yeison went to In n Out for lunch while I grabbed some pizza along the way. We saw that many buffets were opening back up so we signed up for the Wynn buffet for two days later, which we read was one of the best in Las Vegas. For dinner, we took an Uber to a Korean barbecue buffet restaurant off the strip, Captain 6 which was so worth it. So much food, great service and delicious!

That Night

We had tickets to the KA Cirque du Soleil show (at MGM Grand hotel) which we were crazy excited for since neither one of us had ever seen a Cirque du Soleil show. KA was incredible and I totally see why their production is like $1 million dollars or something, the theatrics, costumes, music and artistry was a performance of another level!

If you get a chance to see KA, DO IT!

Day 2

For our second day in Vegas, we went back to the strip to walk around and had the lunch buffet at the Wynn. To be honest, we were disappointed by the quality. This was not cheap (~$50 USD per person) and I expected much much more. I understand that they just re-opened a couple weeks ago but for the price we paid, the quality should have been much higher. The servers were nice but they kept getting our drinks confused with another table.

After a sad and expensive lunch, Yeison went to play some blackjack in the Wynn and amazingly he won back what we paid back for lunch and some more. So at least we got our money back!

We wanted to make sure we had a good dinner so we made reservations at the Gordan Ramsey restaurant in the Cesar’s Hotel. The rest of the day we spent gambling and having fun.

Day 3

For our last day in vegas, we got tickets for another Cirque du Soleil show, Mystere at the Treasure Island Hotel which was really fun. For both Cirque du Soleil shows, we got front center seats so our tickets were not cheap. However, we really wanted to have good seats for our first shows so we were fine to splurge.

Tickets were about $130-150 USD per person for both shows.

We also checked out of the Luxor and switched hotels to the Strat. As it was Friday night, the price of the Luxor was triple the price! Since our flight on Saturday was super early in the morning, we decided to book our last night at the Strat since it was super cheap and we had to leave very early the next day anyways.

Overall

Las Vegas is such a fun city and so much more than the strip. We enjoyed our time there, especially the Cirque du Soleil shows.
